The 2030 Agenda

The work on sustainable development of all countries in the world is guided by the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was agreed upon at the UN in 2015 and which is commonly called Agenda 2030. The agenda contains 17 goals that countries should collectively achieve by 2030.

Agenda 2030 has also helped the world of business concretise ways to strengthen the positive effects of business and reduce the negative effects. It presents a framework of areas where the priorities of the impacts of a business can be viewed and measured.

As a Finnish company, we are committed to complying with the principles of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the ILO’s Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the UN’s Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy has identified the following areas as its most important Agenda 2030 priorities, in addition to which we also take into account the other above-mentioned objectives where applicable:

7. Affordable and clean energy

We increase the production of renewable energy and increase the availability of affordable, reliable and efficiently produced energy. We promote investments in clean energy production and the development of the sector. We develop and maintain a functioning electrical network and related infrastructure.

9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure

We develop high-quality, reliable and sustainable infrastructure that supports renewable energy production and electrical network management. We participate in collaborative research projects to develop genuinely more sustainable energy production and promote the green transition.

11. Sustainable cities and communities

We strengthen the security of supply, safety, and energy availability by producing renewable energy for Finns through the regional energy companies that own us. We take into account the different aspects of sustainable development from the perspective of the environment and people in the areas where we operate. We promote the scaling of good solutions in Finland and abroad.

13. Climate action

We help Finland meet its international climate goals, influence in socially important forums and raise awareness of mitigating climate change. In our operations, we also take into account the perspectives required for adaptation to climate change

14. Life below water

We take care of marine and coastal ecosystems throughout the life cycle of offshore wind power. We reduce marine pollution by producing renewable energy, thereby also mitigating the effects of climate change on seas and curbing the use of fossil fuels throughout society.

15. Life on land

We build and produce wind power in such a way that we can safeguard and strengthen the diversity of terrestrial ecosystems. Nature values and taking them into consideration have been integrated into the planning and development of our operations.
