The shareholders of Suomen Hy\u00f6tytuuli Oy unveiled a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Google for the electricity generated by the Alajoki-Peuralinna wind farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today, Google announced investment plans in Finland, including data centers and other supporting energy infrastructure and partnerships in Hamina, Muhos, Vaala, and Kajaani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Google and Suomen Hy\u00f6tytuuli\u2019s shareholders signed the agreement in 2024 to enable new clean capacity for Finland\u2019s grid, and the wind farm project, which has been operational since April 2025, now contributes to a growing secure electricity supply for the country. The agreement is managed by Hy\u00f6tytuuli Services Oy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are interested in entering into new long-term PPA agreements in the future, thus helping to accelerate Finland\u2019s green transition together with our customers,\u201d says Jaakko Kleemola<\/strong>, CEO of Suomen Hy\u00f6tytuuli Oy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Alajoki-Peuralinna wind farm consists of 14 wind turbines whose estimated annual production is 250 GWh. The wind farm is situated in central Finland in Perho and Kyyj\u00e4rvi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aris Karcianis<\/strong>, Director Clean Energy and Power EMEA at Google, said: \u201cGoogle has been proud to call Finland home for the past fifteen years, and we\u2019ve engaged closely with local energy developers to add new clean energy supply to the grid. This PPA with Suomen Hy\u00f6tytuuli Oy brings our total contracted renewable capacity in Finland to 629 MW and demonstrates we\u2019re committed to doing our part to accelerate Finland\u2019s ongoing transition to decarbonised, secure electricity sources. As we grow our footprint in Finland, bringing new clean capacity online will continue to be a key part of our long-term strategy to ensure access to affordable, clean energy for our Finnish neighbours and customers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Parties are now working together to develop ancillary services that enable greater flexibility for the wind farm\u2019s operations, further supporting the stability and reliability of the Finnish electricity grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Further information Suomen Hy\u00f6tytuuli Oy<\/strong> is a forerunner of wind energy in Finland. The company has ten onshore wind farms in operation or in test use and one offshore wind farm operating in Tahkoluoto. The company also has several wind energy projects under development.
