Sustainability strategy

Suomen Hyötytuuli’s sustainability strategy

Sustainability is a core value at Suomen Hyötytuuli. For us, sustainable business is about continuous development in terms of operations, stakeholders, and value chains. Our sustainability strategy is based on our long-standing and in-depth expertise and on sufficiently thorough background work. We have carried out a double materiality assessment of the sustainability impact that our company has on the environment and society – and how the environment and society affects our business – considering both positive and negative impacts, risks, and opportunities.

The most important objective is to implement and develop activities that support our strategy in the practices of our value chain. The sustainability strategy is integrated in the action plans and metrics of all Suomen Hyötytuuli’s business units. Activities are prioritised first and foremost by the impact they have on business.

Sustainable business

  • We conduct our business profitably and sustainably, and monitor this through management team activities and board reporting.
  • We ensure that people working for us and throughout our value chain comply with guidelines and standard operating procedures, including ethical guidelines (both internal and for partners), procurement and contracting guidelines, risk management processes, information security guidelines, practices related to human rights, safety and well-being, incident management, and environmental policy.
  • We integrate environmental responsibility into our daily operations and future investments.
  • Our goal for biodiversity is to achieve a net positive impact by 2035.
  • Our most important climate impact is positive as we contribute to Finland’s carbon neutrality target and support our owners in achieving the emission reduction goals of the Paris Agreement through renewable energy production. We also aim for carbon-neutrality in direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions across the life cycle of renewable energy by 2035.
  • We enhance the prevention of pollution, especially in construction and production.
  • We optimise the use and re-use of resources and raw materials as well as circular economy.
  • We foster the public acceptance of wind power in a transparent manner.
  • We maintain strong relationships with our regional stakeholders.
  • We take part in preparedness and contingency planning activities.
  • Our communication with our stakeholders is clear and factual.
