Tahkoluoto is the world’s first offshore wind farm in frozen sea conditions. The offshore wind farm consisting of 10 offshore wind turbines was built in Tahkoluoto, Pori in 2017. The first offshore WTG in Finland was built there in 2010.

The proportion of offshore wind power in all of wind power production will continue to grow because the wind conditions at sea are better and the offshore wind technology enables building large-scale wind farms.

The infrastructure and the wind conditions in the Tahkoluoto area are perfect for wind energy production.

The Tahkoluoto offshore wind farm produces about 157,000 MWh of electricity per year, which corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of approximately 8,600 detached homes with electric heating.
